Milim Beheksher (Words in Context)

The purpose of this activity is to help students expand and refine their Chumash vocabulary by considering words in the context of the posuk in which it appears. This activity should be used with words that students will encounter at least twice within a relatively short time span (no more than a week or two). By looking at multiple examples of a word, students will refine their understanding of complex and sophisticated words and will better appreciate the shades of meaning in many simple and common words. This activity is somewhat more complex than the shoresh dictionary. A teacher should choose to do one or the other, based on the level of the class.
